EL025 - Measurements

2012

Homework
Write your answers on A4 paper and hand in to Jennison General Office by: 12 noon on MONDAY, 21st JANUARY, 2013. 1.

A
R1
Galvanometer

R2

R3
B 10 V

R4

(a) If the bridge is balanced when R1 = 20 k , R2 = 40 k , R3 = 1 k , calculate the value of R4 . (b) If the galvanometer is disconnected and the temperature of the resistor R3 is changed so that its resistance becomes 1.004 k , what will then be the voltage difference across A to B? 2. The following figure shows two waveforms on a dual-channel oscilloscope. The dotted waveform is a sinusoidal input applied to an electronic device and the solid waveform is the resulting output. The time base on the oscilloscope is set to 20 ms/DIV and the voltage gain of both channels is set to 0.5 V/DIV.

Input

Output

(1) Determine the amplitude of the output waveform. (2) Calculate the root mean square (RMS) value of the output waveform. (3) Determine the period of the output waveform. (4) Determine the frequency of the output waveform. (5) Determine the phase difference, , between the two waveforms in degrees and radians.

(6) Write down the equation for this output waveform reference to the input wave.
