SeptemberSeptember-October, when monsoon rains are over and it is getting cooler.

November December, when temperature are becoming milder, and skies are clearer.

Remarks

Depending on how low temperatures go, plants may stagnate in Winter. Greenhouses should be well isolated, and closed early each day to capture the heat.

During Hot season, steps should be taken to improve the micro-climate around the plants. This microcan be done by cultivating outdoors or opening structure, shading and using overhead irrigation appropriately.

ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING
Light plays an important role in the elongation of shoots and flowering. Gypsophila requires a total of 16 hrs of day length. Season Summer Winter Monsoon Artificial lighting duration 3 hrs. 5 hrs. 4 hrs. Interval 5 min ON, 10min OFF 5 min ON, 10min OFF 5 min ON, 10min OFF

GA3TREATMENT
GA3 application is essential to ensure a uniform elongation of the shoots. It is a critical component of the production process and hence utmost care to be taken while preparing its solution. GA3 (150ppm) should be sprayed early in the morning (i.e. before 8:00 am) or late in the evening (i.e. after 5:00 pm). It should be sprayed in a circular manner on the leaves of the plants and individual plant should be treated. Generally, two to three sprays of GA3 are required in one cycle.

22

21-Dec-10

GRADING

The harvested stems are graded in shade in lengths of 80, 70, 60 and 50 cm. Then the stems are bunched and 5 bunches of stems (25 stems) are placed in one sleeve and placed in opening room for opening of the flowers.
