Create a spreadsheet, sort the data, share (send) to the teacher 1. Open Google Drive. (open your gmail account, click on Drive at the top) 2. Click on Create (on left), then on Spreadsheet. Rename your spreadsheet:

3. Type in the data below. Add column titles. Skip a row between the titles and the data. Column Titles: Name (last name, first name), Address, Location, City, State

In working with data in spreadsheets there are various commands you can use. For example, if you want to remove a column, do the following. To delete column C, click somewhere in column C. Then click on Edit, [1] scroll down to Delete Column C. [2] Click. Column C will disappear. If you change your mind, you can undo that command. In our example here, To bring column C back again, click on Edit, Undo [3] If you click on Redo the column will disappear again. [4]

4. Sorting Data. Highlight the data, do not highlight the titles of the columns.

Notice the blue line around the area you highlighted. This shows the area you will be sorting.

Click on Data on the Tool Bar. [5] Click on Sort range by column A, AZ. [6] This is the command to sort (alphabetize) the data.

5. For the assignment you will sort the data three times. The first time sort alphabetically, the second time by address and the third time sort by city. To do this, you need to make three copies of the data. Highlight the data. Go to Edit, click on Copy. Move down to row 13, click, then click on Edit and Paste. [7] Repeat to make three copies. [8] Add titles about your sorts.[9] 7

6. Highlight the data to be sorted. This time you want to sort by a different column. To do this Click on Data, [10] scroll down to Sort range [11] Select Column B, AZ, Sort. Repeat with the third sort: Sort by City column D.

7. The final step is to share your spreadsheet with your teacher . Click on File, Share. Type in your teachers email address. Write a message. This is Project #4 for my Technology Certificate. Send a copy to yourself. Click on Share and Save.
