Which radio station is appropriate for our radio trailer?

Megan, Gemma and Ellie

BBC Radio 1
We feel that BBC Radio 1 is the most appropriate station for our trailer, we read the remit and decided that its focused on: a distinctive mix of new music and entertainment for 15-29 year olds as well as providing tailored news, documentaries and advice campaigns for young adults. As our radio trailer is advertising a documentary on teen pregnancy (a topic which is most interesting and relatable to young people) we feel that Radio 1 is the perfect station.

Capital FM
Reading over Capital FMs was promising initially, however we decided that we wanted more of a focus on topics that are slightly more serious and we decided that BBC Radio 1 was much more appropriate for our documentary. A RHYTHMIC-BASED MUSIC-LED SERVICE FOR 15-29 YEAR-OLDS SUPPLEMENTED WITH NEWS, INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT. THE SERVICE SHOULD HAVE PARTICULAR APPEAL FOR LISTENERS IN THEIR 20s AND AT LEAST 12 HOURS A WEEK OF IDENTIFIABLE SPECIALIST MUSIC PROGRAMMES.

BBC Radio 2, 3,4 and 5 remits

Radio 2: is to be a distinctive, mixed music and speech service, targeted at a broad audience, appealing to all age groups over 35. Radio 3: is to offer a mix of music and cultural programming in order to engage and entertain its audience. Around its core proposition of classical music, its speech-based programming should inform and educate the audience about music and culture. Radio 4: is to be a mixed speech service, offering in-depth news and current affairs and a wide range of other speech output including drama, readings, comedy, factual and magazine programmes. Radio 5: is to be BBC Radio's home of continuous news and live sports coverage Clearly, these radio stations are unsuitable for our radio trailer, most of the appeal to an older audience and, BBC Radio 5, in particular are unsuitable for the topic we have chosen. However, BBC Radio 1 is the perfect station for us.
