GD/Debate could be
Your stress handling ability Flair for Current affairs EQ levels Attitude and time management skills Impact and business sense that candidate possess.

G.D v/s Debate


GD: The number of participants usually varies from six to ten. You dont have to take any side Less aggression's involved A GD usually aims at coming to a common conclusion Debate: One-on-one format or two-on-one format You have to take sides essentially The level of aggression is greater There is no common conclusion in this case

G.D v/s Debate


Time allotted for a GD is more than that of time allotted for a debate The focus could be diluted and diverted easily because of the multitude of opinions Time allotted is lesser The focus will not be diluted or diverted easily

Group Discussion
Its the process of exchange of ideas in a group for coming to a common conclusion You should not be too aggressive in your attitude A GD will not go on forever

Essentials of GD
Wait for your chance When two people clash, a pause follows immediately, thats your chance Speak with determination Initiation or conclusion will be a bonus

Take others opinion into consideration Be emphatic, connect, appeal and convince At any point of time, dont be frustrated/

Essentials of a debate
Its not a war, its just an event You have to win over the judges and the audience not the person with whom you are debating Give strong and valid points Numbers, facts and figures are detrimental

Essentials of a debate
Vary your tone to the maximum extent possible Ask rhetoric questions Involve everyone Think and respond, dont merely react You have to win minds, remember!
