Explain the term manpower Audit

Definition:- Manpower Audit may be defined as the analysis and evaluation of personnel policies, procedure and practices to determine the effectiveness of personnel / human resource management in an organization

Objectives
To review the whole organizational system of human resource practices i.e acquiring, developing , allocating, and utilizing human resource in the organization. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of various personnel policies and practices. 3. To identify shortcoming in the implementation of human resource practices in the organization. 4. To modify the exiting human resource practices to meet the challenges of personnel/ human resource management

Scope
The areas personnel audit includes are recruitment, selection, job analysis, training, management development, promotion and transfer, labour relation, moral development, employee benefits, wage and salary administration, collective bargaining, industrial relations and communication further, the areas like leadership, performance appraisal and employee mobility are also included within the scope of manpower audit.

Identifying indices , indicators, statistical rations and gross number in some cases. Examining the variation in a time frame comparison with a similar previous corresponding period. Comparing the variation of different departments during different time periods. Examining the variation of different periods and then comparing them with the similar units working in the region. Drawing trends, ascertaining frequency distribution and co relation between them. Preparing a report and send it to the top management for information and action.
