STG LP STOP VALVE REPORT

LP Stop valve: Make: LMZ Russia, No of valves : 01 No. Type of valve: Open/Close. Type of Driven: Servo motor operated. Function of valve: To restrict the super heated steam of LP path. Defect:
On 12-09-2012 the valve was strucked in open condition at the time Operated by manually but valve was not closing. So, the operation dept. raises the defect (Defect no: 2597/M).

Observations: We observed that valve spindle jammed in open position on 12-09-2012, And decided that valve dismantling to be done. After dismantling of valve we observed that Valve shaft labyrinth portion jammed with rusty and foreign particles.

Maintenance: On 14-09-2012 scaffolding arranged for removing the insulation and cladding near the valve grating removed, all tools and Lifting tackles arranged for valve dismantling purpose. On 15-09-2012. 09:30 hrs. We started Separating of valve actuator and bottom side 1 condensate drain line cut and separated after that valve shaft guide bush mounting studs loosened. After Separation of Servo motor lifted with the help of chain block and by EOT crane we kept on STG floor, And after Valve 2 Steam leak off line and oil line SS Tube cut and separated, bonnet Stud nuts loosened and separated with valve body and kept on Floor horizontal position. After that Valve physical inspection checks carried out and found that valve shaft jammed in upper position with rusty and dirt particles. We started to separate the valve shaft from the bonnet flange by applying hydraulic jacking gradually, and separated the valve shaft from the bonnet flange and all valve parts and shaft labyrinth portion cleaning ,buffing work started. Shaft run out was checked and it was assumed up to 0.02 to 0.03mm. Valve body and valve seating place was thoroughly cleaned by applying oil stone. Valve shaft labyrinth portion jammed dirty particles removed buffing. On 16-09-2012. Valve assembling work started At 08:30hrs. Assembling work has been completed, and manually tested at 16:30hrs. Found normal. Clearance given to operation dept. For barring gear operation. After that connected and welded the 2 Steam leak off line and valve bottom side condensate drain lines connected by weldingwork.
