What makes it move in a circular path?

Centripetal force- keeps the riders move in a circular path.

Any

force that causes an object to follow a circular path.

F=

2 mv

/r

F = centripetal force m= mass in kilogram v= linear velocity r= radius

If Centripetal force is center-seeking, why are the riders not moving towards the center?

If there is no centripetal force exerted on the ball it will move in a tangential or straight path.

Is there such thing as centrifugal force????

There is no outward force exerted on the riders. It is inertia which makes them move away from the center and makes them follow tangential path.

In a carousel who travels faster the inner rider or the outer one?

(Angular speed )

= / t

v =r

When making a turn, how do passengers move inside the car?

400 g rock attached to a 1.0 m string is whirled in a horizontal circle at the constant speed of 10.0 m/s. Neglecting the effects of gravity, what is the centripetal force acting on the rock?

How

long does it take a 50 kg runner to run a circular track starting and ending at the same point, if the radius of the track is 30 m? A centripetal force of 68N keeps him running at constant speed in a circular path.

small plastic box with a mass of 0.3 kg revolves uniformly in a circle on a horizontal frictionless surface such as an air-hockey table. The box is attached by a cord 0.14 m long to a pin set in the surface. If the box makes 2 complete revolutions per second, find the force exerted by the cord.

car rounds a flat, unbanked curve with radius R , if the coefficient of friction between tires and road is s . What is the maximum speed at which the driver can take the curve without sliding?
