Rita Dupas passed away on February 8
th
, 2013 at the age of 92. She is survived
by her children: Marc, Monique (Macaskill), Pauline, Pierrette (Stubbings), Lise
(Beaton), Denis, Suzanne (Deluca), Jacques, Michele, ten grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. Rita was born in St. Agathe, Manitoba on February 5
th
, 1921
to Ephrem and Antoinette Toupin. Rita grew up in St. Boniface, Manitoba, the
fifth in a family of eleven children.
She married the love of her life, Aim Dupas in 1944 and they spent 62 joyful
years together. When Aim was transferred to Vancouver, they moved the family to
BC. Rita was an outstanding homemaker through her baking (especially her butter
tarts), cooking, and sewing; she selflessly dedicated herself to her family. Rita was
very committed to the Catholic Church and volunteered at many organizations
where her sewing skills were appreciated.
For sixteen years, Rita enjoyed spending her weekends at their cabin at Pitt Lake
in BC where her laughter could be heard during a good crib game.
The family is comforted by the thought that Aim and Rita are finally reunited.
We will miss her dearly.
Prayers were recited on February 13
th
at the Thompson Funeral Home and a
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on February 14
th
at the Cathedral of Mary
Immaculate with Father Jim Ratcliffe. Cremation followed. As an expression of
sympathy, a donation can be made to the Alzheimers Society of BC. The family
wishes to thank the compassionate and caring staff at Jubilee Manor and Dr. Janz
for their outstanding care.

ments were under the direction of Thompson Funeral Service Ltd., Nelson.

Program cancellations are as follows:
Pool user groups - all bookings until March 31st are cancelled.
Program registrants - all aquatic programs are cancelled for the remainder of the winter session or until
March 31, 2013, including spring break. Depending upon the program, customers may receive a pro-rated
or a full refund of registration fees.
PASS HOLDER REFUNDS, CANCELLATIONS & RENEWALS
Tree options are available to NDCC pass holders:
1. Between February 7 and March 15, 2013 monthly membership holders can choose to cancel their mem-
bership and receive a pro-rated credit on their account back dated to January 28, 2013.
2. Between February 7 and March 15, 2013 all swipe card holders can choose a pro-rated credit on their
account for any swipes they have remaining on their card.
3. Everyone that has or had an active monthly membership from January 28 to March 15, 2013 and has

Afer three years of darkness, the Nelson Civic Teatre
Society is lighting up the big screen to kick of its project
to restore the old theatre as a modern multi-use com-
munity presentation space.
Te Civic is hosting a glamorous James Bond Grand
Gala event on Friday, February 22 at 7 pm with a re-
ception and screening of the newest James Bond mov-

On behalf of Premier Christy Clark and the Government
of British Columbia, I would like to congratulate the
Village of Kaslo and the Regional District of Central
Kootenay on the completion of stage 1 of the Kaslos
Sustainable Complex Project for the Kaslo & Area Arena
and Rinks.
Te completion of these upgrades is excellent news.
Staying active through hockey, ice skating and curling is
a central part of community life during BC winters and
the upkeep of local arenas and curling rinks is essential.
Tese facilities are great places to be active, make new
community connections and spend time with family and
friends.
In British Columbia, our government strongly believes
in the benefts of physical activity. Being active promotes
healthy lifestyles, happy families, strong local economies
and great communities. Tats why the BC government
established the $30million Community Recreation
Program to assist local governments in covering the
costs of infrastructure projects that help make their
community a healthier, more active place to live. Trough
the Community Recreation Program, the BC government
was proud to provide a grant of more than $188,000 to
support this upgrade to the Kaslo & Area Arena and
Rinks.
Te completion of this project could not have been
achieved without the involvement of many individuals. I
want to thank the Kaslo and District Arena and Curling
Club Boards, the Village of Kaslo, Greg Lay, Mayor of
Kaslo and Andy Shadrack, Director Area D, RDCK,
as well as many businesses and individuals whose hard
work and support were instrumental in the success of
this project. I commend your vision, determination and
dedication. Together, we are helping to foster a vibrant,
more active and healthy community through important
infrastructure projects.
Congratulations again on a job well done. I am confdent
that this facility will be a hub for community activity and
fun for years to come.
