INTRODUCTION A lathe is a machine tool which turns cylindrical material, touches a cutting tool to it, and cuts the material. The lathe is one of the machine tools most well used by machining .
As shown in Figure 2, a material is firmly fixed to the chuck of a lathe. The lathe is switched on and the chuck is rotated. And since the table which fixed the byte can be moved in the vertical direction, and the right-and-left direction by operating some handles shown in Fig. 3. It touches a byte's tip into the material by the operation, and make a mechanical part.
Drilling
Drilling allows a person to make holes through boards, metals, and other materials.
Boring
Boring is an operation to enlarge and finish holes accurately. This may be done on a lathe or a milling machine.
Tapping
Tapping is the process of cutting a thread inside a hole so that a cap screw or bolt can be threaded into the hole. Also, it is used to make threads on nuts.
Turning
Turning is a lathe operation in which the cutting tool removes metal from the outside diameter of a workpiece.
Threading
Single point threading is a lathe operation used for creating internal / external precision machined threads with a single point tool.
Knurling
Griping the piece of any metal is calleed knurling
Facing
Facing is a lathe operation in which the cutting tool removes metal from the end of the workpiece or a shoulder.
Drill Press
A machine designed to hold drill bits which will produce cylindrical holes.
Broaching
Broaching is an operation that completes the cutting in one stroke or cut.
