Media Department

Practical Work Code of Conduct

As a student using the facilities throughout the Media Department there are certain rules you will be expected to comply with in order to ensure your own health and safety and the safety of others. To ensure that students benefit from the course and that consumables are not wasted:

Attendance must be regular and students will be expected to be punctual; poor punctuality and attendance are disruptive and can lead to under-achievement. If you are not punctual you may be sent away and referred. Persistent non-attendance will also generate phone calls and ultimately referral. In order that Coursework is kept safe all students must leave group documentation/footage in the Department with a Tutor or Technician or on a shared network folder. Please ask if you require a paper folder. The Department will not accept any responsibility for any work that is lost if it has not been put away in a folder and if the folder has not been stored away properly in the department or saved to your shared area; the department strongly advises that work on usb etc. is also copied to the hard drive before quitting. All Coursework is examination work and thus will be treated with respect by everyone: anyone caught wilfully damaging another students work will be instantly reported to the Principal and to the Examination Authorities. Students must accept responsibility for keeping the rooms tidy and turning off all electrical equipment after use, you are not allowed to leave the studios or workrooms until staff are satisfied with the state of the room. All facilities and equipment will be treated with respect. Student production work may be used by the department for promotional or teaching purposes, by signing this document you agree to the material being used/exhibited for these purposes. Any students/general public who appear in production work must be made aware of this by the group concerned and permissions sought. If consent is not given, your Tutor must be notified immediately.
