Assignment 4: Final Report

Final Due: Wednesday 3.25

Description: This is the final part of a three-part assignment in which you, in teams of three, will
propose to redesign a website, redesign it, get feedback, and report on your final product (both in paper and presentation form). 1.

[Title Page]: Group members names. Name of company. Company logo. Date. (remember to
include page numbers)

2.

[Introduction]: See 4.1. Should include a similar but expanded introduction to cover what
youve done now. a. Start with an abstract of the entire document. b. Give a site description, intended users, and primary goals. c. List the flaws of the site and the improvements you are going to make. d. List any other design considerations.

3.

[Flaws]: Again. See assignment 4.1. Basically, an improved and cleaned up version of that:
Identify the design flaws of the website. You must analyze three specific pagesa homepage and two secondary pages. You need to do this visually, using screen captures and labels.

4.

[Alternatives]:Identify three other websites that are of the same kind, purpose, and or
business as the website youre redesigning. Describe how these three sites work better/solve the problems youre chosen website is having.

5. 6.

[Design Concept]: The three/four initial homepages you proposed in assignment 4.2. [Memo]: Includes the memo the other group wrote for you. You must take into account at
least 2 things your client suggested in their memo. In your prototype description; you should mention these considerations.

7.

[Final Prototype]: This is what youve been building up to. A uniform final site that solves
the problems of the original. a. Four pages: Homepage, two body pages, and one interactive function in use (such as a pop up audio feature, a debt calculator, something interactive that is a part of another homepage. See pg.18 of my example on our course websitepop up function). All pages should be uniform and follow the same guidelines as assignment 4.2. i. Navigation : site contains a clear navigation structure, as described in Dont Make Me Think and other course texts. Navigation should be clear and fulfill the users needs. Navigation should also somehow illustrate that the user is on the homepage. ii. Grid: Vectors should be clear and straight. Nothing should break alignment unless its on purpose. Vectors should guide the readers eye. Clutter should be avoided. iii.Color scheme: Site has a clear color scheme avoiding more than 3 colors. Color scheme should build the ethos of the site.

iv. User: the multiple users of the site have been considered in the design. What they want is readily accessible and what they dont need isnt there. v. Theme: Overall the sites design follows some kind of theme matching the businesses ethos. The choices you make as a designer should reflect the kind of business you are designing for. b. Solution Description : Tell briefly what this page is and does. And Include a brief paragraph solution description on each page, same as assignment 4.2: Each websites homepage must briefly list the problems of the original site and how those problems were solved in this new sites design. Choices A-E in number 1 above are described. Each description should QUOTE Dont Make Me Think or another course text at least twice in order to explain your choices. Dont quote randomly. It wont count. 8.

[Conclusion and Proposal]:

a. Persuasive Summary : Conclude with a brief redescription of your major design
priorities and why you are right in the solutions you maderemember the goal of this report is a persuasive one. b. Whats Next : State what the client will need to do in the future with the site. Are there points they will have to regularly update (prices, a calendar, recent news feature?)
