"Sure, my project management system has a few flaws, but I'm sticking with it."
The answer is to use a project chart. The best way to do this is with SmartDraw visual processing software. It is designed for the task and very easy to use. In fact, you can plan an entire project in 45 minutes or lesshere's how!
It is difficult to estimate the length of complex tasks like these. It's much easier to accurately estimate the length of smaller, simpler subtasks that comprise the major components.
Simply expand your mind map to include all the sub-tasks for each category.
Notice how easy this is to read. It's clear to anyone, without special training of any kind, how the tasks flow outwardly from the center of the mind map. More importantly, creating this diagram is as easy as opening the template and adding items with a single mouse click. If you prefer, you can use keyboard shortcuts that make the process even easier. No drawing is required to create a visual like this using SmartDraw, and all of the formatting is done for you automatically, so you can focus on your content - without worrying about format. Once you have identified all the tasks in your project, the next step is to assign tasks and establish timelines with a project chart.
Let's toggle back to our mind map view by clicking on that icon. What we see is an expanded version of the visual presented earlier. This one includes the names of the team members you assigned to each task. Again, it's important to note that you only have to enter this data once - SmartDraw does the rest for you.
The graphical display at the right automatically updates as you enter the start and end dates of each task. Also note how the weekend dates are shaded (March 3-4 and 10-11). This is another automatic feature of SmartDraw, so you don't inadvertently assign a weekend deadline.
