Measures Used in Guatemala
Length is a quantity designed to measure the distance between two points. The unit to measure the length is the meter [m] in the international system of Units. KILOMETER [Km]: to measure distances is used the kilometer. 1km is 1000 meters METER [m]: it is used to measure small distances and large objects. 1m is 100 centimeter. CENTIMETER [cm]: it is used to measure objects and small distances. INCH [In]: is used in English Systems to measure objects or small distances. 1[in] is 2.54 cm. FOOT [ft.]: is a unit of measurement of natural origin, based on the human foot, equal to 30.48 cm YARD [yd.]: Length unit is used in fabric sales Guatemala. 1yd. is 0.9144 m.
UNITS OF WEIGHT
Weight measurements are used to measure the mass or amount of matter contained in a body. HUNDREDWEIGHT [q]: The hundredweight, measure that contain 4 arrobas or 100 pounds. ARROBA [@]: The arroba, measure containing 25 pound.
TON: in the Anglo-Saxon system originally referred to the large barrel with a capacity of 252 gallons, containing about 2016 pounds. GRAM [gr]: One gram is equal to one thousand milligrams. KILOGRAM [kg]: Recently started to be used in Guatemala, one kilogram has 1000 grams, or 2.20 pounds.
INTRODUCTION
In this work has been defined the units of measurement used in Guatemala, mentioning the most important and the most commonly used daily, is important to note that units of measure are investigated in the International System and the English System.
