Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection InTASC Standard:


Standard #10: The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.

Brief Description of Evidence:


This artifact is a brochure that I created as a parent resource for community involvement. The brochure includes information about family activities in the community, a community letter from the sheriff, and places of entertainment and food. The brochure also has several web addresses for those seeking employment.

Analysis of What I Learned:


Family involvement in education is critical to a students success. Parents need to feel they are welcome in the classroom. By providing parents with resources such as the brochure I created, they can feel more connected to the classroom and their community. Active community participation can prove invaluable to the overall learning experience of any student.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:


My artifact capitalizes on the opportunity to show leadership qualities to support learner growth in the community. By ensuring the appropriate accommodations for parents in the newsletter, the students can be more active in their community, which may lead to growth in their leadership qualities. The artifact exudes confidence in the parents to keep their families involved in the community and in the classroom.
