Term 1 Maths Evaluations TEN activities Week 5 Card Game- adding one and two digit numbers.

Students were engaged in this hands on activity and were eager to extend their mathematical strategies. Students practiced counting forwards and backwards and made their friends of 20 using cards. During reflection, students discussed what they achieved and what they had learnt. Dominoes- Greater than, less than and counting on. Students were deeply engaged in this activity. 2A were encouraged to draw their dominoes on the card and add two digit numbers. This was a very engaging task for students. This involved students to subitise, record and develop their mental strategies. Ten Frame- Finding the difference of two numbers. The focus this week was subtracting two numbers. Students have developed a better understanding of using different strategies to find an answer quicker. Dice Game- subitising and finding the difference of two numbers. This was extended for the counting on students and they were encouraged to write a word equation for their problem. This group had outstanding results! Race to 50 (Roll a die and count on to reach your target number). All students were deeply engaged in this activity. Students were competitive and enthusiastic about reaching their goal. Students recorded their numbers so they were able to count on. Extra time was given for this activity so students were able to meet their goal. This was a fantastic experience for all students to develop mental strategies. Shake, rattle and drop (using double sided counters). This was a very engaging activity for students. Students were able to challenge their partner and find the difference of two numbers. Students were very content playing this game and were developing different strategies by shaking, rattling and dropping their counters. This activity was most definitely 2As favourite maths game.

Number recognition (cards). This week for TEN groups, students were given numeral cards. Students practiced reading and saying the numeral to their partner. Students enjoyed testing their partner with larger numbers.
