An Example of a Developmental Lesson Plan

I. Objectives Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the importance of wildfires by reflecting on misconceptions and the ecological roles of fire, including; the use of ecology vocabulary and the effects on humans and other organisms. II. Subject Matter Topic: Ecological Roles of Fires and their Importance Reference: Engaging with Science I (By Efren Tungol) Materials: Science Books and Lab Notebooks III. Lesson Plan A. Discussion - The Teacher asked questions about wild fires to the students while presenting the lesson. He will also show a video about the High Park Fire and asked students if they have other opinions or hypothesis? Did the fire affect them? B. Activity - In groups, each student researches the answer to one question, they compare their answers with students who have the same question (puzzle piece groups). - Students explain their findings to their original groups. - Discuss why fires are important and answers to the questions. - Take notes on importance and vocabulary in Lab notebook

IV. Evaluation - Prompt the reflection question: Has your opinion on forest fires changed? What did you think before we started vs. now?
