2/25/13 Dear Tara: Has your dog ever run away? Can you imagine life without your pet? I used to have a big black lab named Vince that loved to hop the fence and go off on long adventures. It was such a pain having to go and look for him, worrying that he had been hit by a car or attacked by another animal. Luckily, Maryville had just opened a humane society. After that, whenever I realized Vince had jumped the fence, I just called the humane society and most of the time they had already found him. We need your help! The New Nodaway Humane Society is having some financial troubles and could be closing down soon if the current annual budget obligations are not met. The shelter continues to perform above state standards and serves as the only county wide humane society serving 750 to 800 animals a year. We are asking households and organizations in the Maryville community to become an Angel for these animals. What you can do! Becoming an Angel is easy! Donating just $50 a month, thats less than two dollars a day, you can help families find their furry friends. To make things as easily as possible, donations can be made by automatic deduction from a bank account or put on a credit card. Fill out the attached form with your information and you will be one step closer to being a proactive animal activist. Send it in by March, 15th or the Nodaway County Humane Society will close and the chance of maybe your animal being returned home will be gone.
