Nodaway County Humane Society & Animal

Shelter
829 S. Depot Street, Maryville, MO, 64468
Dear Gary and Jewel Kraber,

Every single year our shelter takes in 750 to 800 animals. The down side to this
number is only a third of these animals get a second chance at life with an
affectionate owner. Nodaway County Humane Society & Animal Shelter prides
ourselves on maintaining a low kill facility because of the loving creatures that
come into our facilities. This has become quite difficult though due to the recent
annual tax rates being lowered. The support for the shelter has been reduced by a
tremendous 70 percent. This means only half of the total budget of $216,000 is
being funded by local taxes.

Loving animals such a Lily, Rex, Pancho, and Roxy need your help!

There are approximately 13,600 animal shelters nationwide that take in roughly 7.6
millions dogs and cats. Of those 7.6 million animals, 2.7 million are adopted while
another 2.7 million animals are euthenized.

Nodaway County Humane Society prides itself on a no kill policy which eliminates
the idea of euthenization where as other animal shelters have a kill rate of 35%. We
need your help in order to keep our policy in place and care for these animals.
We want you to be a Humane Society Hero to help these tender souls find a care
home. To join the cause in saving these animals, we are asking for a commitment
of $50 a month from 200 families or organizations.

Payments can be made monthy, automatic withdrawals, or through a credit card.

Also, you can go to our website www.nodawaycountyhumane.wordpress.com where
the online payment form can be filled out. The tax-deductible donations being
received will not go to waste, the money will be put toward nessecities needed for
the survival of these animals such as

Medicine
Shelters
Food
Surgery

As a thank you to your contributions, you will aslo receive free humane society
membership, recognition at our shelter, special invitations to
social events, and a hero lapel pin.

But most of all the comfort of knowing you are helping animals
such as Gus, a year old coonhound that was abandoned as a
young pup. Gus was found on the streets in Maryville at the age
of 9 months all alone and underweight from lack of food. Unable
to fend for himself, Gus was on the verge of starvation and
dehydration until he was rescued by one of our Animal Control
Officers. After being rescued, Gus has made a full recovery and is as happy as ever
just waiting for the day he gets to go home to a new and loving family.

We already have 10 families that have joined the fight to keep Nodaway counties
only animal shelter open, and need your help to reach our goal.

Thank you,

Edwin Kraber
