Dear Maryville Resident,

Hi, my name is Sonic. I am a 3 year old German Shepard-Akita mix. I was brought into the New Nodaway Humane Society (NNHS) after being abandoned on I-29 by my owners. Neglected and beaten I was found with two broken ribs, a fractured femur, and was I suffering from dehydration as well. Thanks to the NNHS, I have made a full recovery, and now I happily reside with the family that adopted me. My story is very similar to the other 750-800 other animals that the NNHS takes in each year. Although I was lucky enough to be adopted, some of my other friends are not. Research has shown that only 1/3rd of animals taken in by the NNHS are adopted. Luckily the wonderful people at the NNHS do not put my friends to sleep, they all reside there until they are adopted or relocated to another local humane society. With 40% of our animals coming in from out of town, our operations are desperate for funding to give these animals proper nutrition, exercise, grooming, and veterinary services. I believe with your help, my friends can be rewarded to see a better tomorrow. With a generous $50/month donation to the NNHS, your money will go to helping my friends have a better life. On top of your tax deductible donations, your membership to our Humane Society Angels includes:
