SUMMARY
The digestive process is important in maintaining the lives of living organisms. Groups of organs work together to perform the task that is breaking down the food. There are three major steps involved in the digestive process. The first step is ingestion. After food enters the mouth, the tooth chews it and then travel to the stomach through oesophagus. The second step begins in the stomach. When the chewed food reaches the bottom of the oesophagus, a valve lets the food enter the stomach. Acidic gastric juices help in mixing the food and turning it into partial liquid. In the small intestine, enzymes are secreted and digestion is completed. The last step is absorption. In the small intestine, small molecules of food are absorbed by the huge number of vili and then enter the bloodstream to be distributed throughout the whole body. In the conclusion, digestive process involves three major steps that is ingestion which occurs in the mouth, digestion that begins in the stomach and absorption which takes place in the small intestine.
