Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction with one of your product that is a laptop that I bought in your store four days ago. As soon as I turned on the computer, I realized that windows operating systems is not installed in it eventhough the offer said that it was already installed. In addition, I have chosen a gray laptop but the one I received is the black one. The default language of the laptop is in French and to make it worse, the memory of the laptop was not the same as stated in your catalogue that I read before I buy it. I wanted this situation to be solved as soon as possible. I made the decision to buy the laptop at your store because of the recommendation from my friend saying that your product is good. But, due to this experienced, I felt deceived and frustrated. I would like to have other laptop which fit the specification as stated in your catalogue at the store as compensation for this accident. If I do not get a quick response to my request, I would like to ask for a full refund from the payment that I already made.

I look forward to hear from you as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely.

ESSAY 1 - EXPOSITORY

A PROCESS OF DIGESTION The digestive process is important in maintaining the lives of living organisms and in providing them with needed energy. Groups of organs, such as the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, and intestines, work together to perform this complex task. Digestion is the process of breaking down food from large molecules into small ones to make it easier for absorption. The three major steps involved in the digestive process are ingestion, digestion, and absorption. Ingestion, which occurs in the mouth, is the first step of the digestive process. After food enters the mouth, the teeth chew it. Saliva, which is produced by the salivary glands, plays a major role in breaking down the food into smaller pieces. These small pieces travel to the stomach through the oesophagus. In the stomach, the second step of the digestive process begins. When the chewed food reaches the bottom of the oesophagus, a valve lets the food enter the stomach. Contraction of the stomach wall mixes the food. Acidic gastric juices, which are secreted by the gastric glands in the stomach, help in mixing the food and in turning it into a partial liquid so it will have the ability to move into the small intestine. In the small intestine, enzymes are secreted, and digestion is completed. The last step in the digestive process is absorption. Absorption takes place in the small intestine. The wall of the small intestine is lined with small, finger like projections called villi. Small molecules of food are absorbed by the huge number of villi. Some of these absorbed molecules enter the bloodstream to be distributed throughout the whole body. In conclusion, the digestive process involves three major steps: ingestion, digestion, and absorption. Ingestion, which occurs in the mouth, helps to increase the surface area of the food particles and prepares them for digestion. In the stomach, digestion begins, and it continues until it reaches the small intestine, where absorption takes place. The digestive process maintains organisms' lives by providing them with energy needed for different functions.

ESSAY 2 - NARRATIVE

Attitude Is Everything
Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, 'Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life." "Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life." I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in the restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combinations. The robbers panicked and shot him.
8

Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma centre. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body. I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live." "Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action." "What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I said. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead." Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything. http://www.essaystart.com/Kinds_of_Essays/Essay_Samples/narrative_Essay_Sam ple.htm

REFLECTION

For doing this assignment, I have to write a formal letter and identify the main ideas and supporting detail of the text that I have to find. Besides that, I also have to compare the two texts that I choose in terms of their similarities and differences of the content, adjective uses, sentences types and tone of the writer. After searching for an amount of time, I manage to get two types of essay and identify the main idea and supporting details of the essays. The other task is to choose one of the texts and present it in a form of graphic organizer and then summarize them. By doing this task, I learned how to get the main ideas of the articles correctly. A main idea is the key word that played as a root of the sentences in the articles. I also learn how to present the main ideas using graphic organization. This knowledge will I adapt it in my daily life if I want to get the clearer information from any source that I read. I also have to provide a graphic organizer to show the main ideas for the articles that I have chosen. The purpose of the graphic organization is to show the important content from the articles and make it easy to understand. By doing this graphic organizer, the content from the article becomes much clearer. Besides that, what I learn from this task is to have a good time management. Without a good time management, we cannot do a single work and finish them in time. That is why we should know how to handle time wisely. As a conclusion, there is much new knowledge that I have learned by doing this course work. I will use this knowledge in my daily life and will teach to the others that in needed. Thank you.
