GRADING POLICY

The goal of the physical education program is to develop students who are both health-literate and physically educated. Students in grades 6-8 are required to dress out in appropriate attire described in the Gym Rules and Policy Handout. The grading scale for Physical Education is consistent with school guidelines: A-90-100% B-80-89% C-70-79% D-60-69% F-59 % or less. Evaluation for physical education grades will be based upon three domains. The Affective (attitudes, relations and sportsmanship), Cognitive (knowledge and concepts) and Psychomotor (skill).

Affective: worth 60%

Affective includes effort, sportsmanship, behavior, attitude, and level of participation during an activity.

Cognitive: worth 20%

Cognitive includes students knowledge and concepts of different physical education activities. Students will be graded on a pass or fail grading system

Psychomotor: worth 20%

Psychomotor includes assessment of students skills during physical education activities. Testing can include demonstration of skills or teacher observation.
