Test is a tool to obtain information to determine the specific characteristics or qualities of an individual

regarding knowledge, physical abilities, skill abilities, etc.

Measurement is a score or data in numerical/grading values, indicating the capacity or ability of an

individual, which is obtained on the basis of applied test.

Evaluation is the process of interpreting the collected data to measure and make the professional
judgement of value or worth. After giving the test, everyone wants to know the feedback or
effectiveness of the measures, which can be gathered through evaluation.

BMI is a simple mathematical calculation which helps us to find out if an individual is normal weighted,
over weighted or obese. BMI is calculated by dividing the weight of an individual by the square of the
height which is expressed in kg/metre².

The waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) helps us to find out the fat distribution by which we can help in evaluating
the overall health of an individual.
This is the ratio of the circumference of the waist and the circumference of the hip of an individual. This
is calculated by dividing waist measurement with the hip measurement of an individual (W ÷ H).

CLASSIFICATION OF TESTS

APTITUDE TESTS attempt to describe and measure a person’s ability to acquire, through future training,
some specific set of skills. These tests commonly consist of Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning etc.

INTELLIGENCE TESTS are used to determine a person’s level of intelligence by measuring his/her ability
to solve problems, form concepts and perform intellectual tasks.

PROFICIENCY TESTS measure how proficient or skilled someone is in a particular field.

ACHIEVEMENT TEST measure what an individual has learnt by assessing his/ her present performance. It
also measures how a person understands a particular area.

PERSONALITY TESTS refer to the techniques designed to measure the characteristic patterns of traits
that people exhibit across various situations.

SUMMATIVE TESTS are used as a check point at the end of the year or course to assess how much
content students learned overall.

GUIDELINES FOR INSTRUCTORS

SUBJECTS OF THE TEST- All the students participating in Physical Education during the physical testing
period must be tested.
A physical Educator trained in the Testing must conduct the testing. Student may also help in monitoring
the test
The data collected by the test should be based on the standards used for reporting and goal settings.

PREPARING FOR ASSESSMENT- Test Administrators should find out what is required for the assessment.
Most fitness tests require a combination of evaluations to assess speed, endurance, flexibility etc.

BEFORE TESTING- Test Administrators should attend Test Administration Training or view fitness Testing
Video which shows proper positioning and administration of the fitness tests.

DURING TESTING- The organization and administration of the testing session is the responsibility of the
test administrator. Any area conducive to activity and exercise which is safe and free from obstruction
can be used.

AFTER TESTING- The test administrator must summarize
