Tyre Tread Patterns

Tyre Tread Pattern defines the 3 main groups of tread pattern designs 1) Multi Directional 2) Asymmetric 3) Directional

1. Multi-directional: Your standard family car tyre and the most common pattern type. Their performance is equal regardless of the direction of rotation.

2. Asymmetric Tyre: Asymmetric patterns are becoming more common. The pattern is different either side of the centre line. They will usually have Inside and Outside on the sidewall indicating the way the tyre should be fitted.

3. Directional Tyres:

The directional pattern was originally developed for high performance cars. These patterns must be fitted the correct way round on the wheel and vehicle to ensure the correct direction of rotation.
