Book Club
The book for this month is called The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively, and by listening very closely to the words of his master, Denny Swift, an upand-coming race car driver. The Book Club is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd, for 8PM at El Torito.
President's Note
In honor of Mother's Day coming up soon, I'd like to take a moment to thank all you wonderful mothers (and grandmothers) who make up this awesome club - you all make my life a little better each month. Thank you for all your patience as I navigate this new path after the loss of my mother. Three years ago this Saturday, I gave birth to my daughter Fiona. She was so anxious to meet us she decided to arrive five weeks early! After a week in the hospital, we were all ready to come home and mother's day was our first full day home as a new family. We were not prepared, her crib had arrived while we were in the hospital. So by 2 am that first mother's day, exhausted and delirious, we completed putting together her tiny round crib. Mother's day will always remind me of that first day home - the excitement, wonder and feeling of hope for this new adventure we were beginning together. I cannot believe what an amazing journey it's been so far. So this month I wanted to share the photos above, of my mother Gwyneth (an artist, teacher & mentor), myself and my daughter. I hope that each of you takes a moment to honor yourself this Mother's day. Because I know you all do wonderful things every day that may go unnoticed. You are all amazing, strong and beautiful. Hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter, I've tried to include lots of photos I've taken over the past couple months and fill it with fun while Mary is on maternity leave.
