Book Club
The book we picked to read next is Life of Pi Life of Pi is a fantasy adventure novel by Yann Martel published in 2001. The protagonist, Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, an Indian boy from Pondicherry, explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. We are going to meet in the bar of the Granary located on 5th street just behind the 5th Street Market. I hope to see you all there! When: Wed. March 20 at 8pm

Greetings All, Sorry for a slightly belated Newsletter this month, all of a sudden life got very busy for me. I just wanted to touch on playgroups this month as we move closer to spring weather. If you're looking for ideas to spice up your playgroup just ask a board member, we're happy to help ! My playgroup currently has 21 kiddos in it and sometimes it gets pretty wild but we make it work by alternating between our homes and various events around town. Today we met up at the Springfield Library Storytime which is fantastic. It includes a small craft weekly, lots of toys to play with including a great dollhouse and huge stuffed animals, puzzles and more.

2013 MOMS CLub Oregon/Washington Board Workshop

We just received our official invitation to the 2013 Board Workshop ! This great event is geared towards existing or potential board members but is open to all members of our club. The event is Saturday, April 13th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland, Oregon. It costs just $17 per attendee which includes a three-course lunch ! Our registration is due by the end of March and there will be several of us going so carpooling is probably a good possibility. I went to this event last year (along with Mary, Shireen & Nicole). We all got a lot of great information. I will have some more information at the member meeting and if anyone wants more information (but won't be at the member meeting) please feel to contact me via email. - Anneka

the member meeting) please feel to contact me via email. We recently met up at Barnes & Noble for their storytime (see photo below, right). As the kids grow, their nap schedules change too - so don't be afraid to mix things up & adjust your playgroups date/time if needed. As the weather warms we'll be meeting up all over town at some of the various parks we are so lucky to have in Eugene. If you're in a newer (or smaller) playgroup - just know that we started with weeks of just two or three members meeting up ... slowly we grew & grew & grew into the active group we currently have. Sometimes it takes time for them to build but playgroups can be an awesome part of this club. We've got a lot of fun events coming up this month ! We've also got a couple bigger events in the works for later this spring & early summer like a family friendly potluck at the park and a potential group camping trip. On the right I've included some info on a workshop coming up in April. And below you'll find more info on the Member Survey Bridget sent out this Winter. My wish for you today is to have a healthy & happy March. Take care & hope to see you around town soon !

Member Survey Results

I just wanted to thank you all for participating in our digital member survey that Bridget sent out, it gave us some great information on ways the Board can better serve our members. I just wanted to touch on the two biggest responses we got. First, several people were interested in more tours. We've found in the past that various places won't give tours to kiddos under age 5 but we'll continue to work on finding some more opportunities out there. You'll see that Kami has organized a great fire station tour for later this month & we'll be adding some more tours periodically. Second, by far the biggest response we got was about interest in starting a Kids Craft Club ! Nicole Flores & myself will be working to get this started by the end of this month or early April. It will be a learning process to figure out how & when this group will meet - and how to alternate hosting, etc. Our goal will be to meet once a month in the start. We're really excited about the possibilities ! If you've got any ideas or would like to host a future month please feel free to contact either Nicole Flores or myself directly. Keep an eye out for an Evite in the next couple weeks. We continue to try to offer a variety of events at various days/times to give as many opportunities as possible for everyone to participate as their schedules allow. Don't forget that if you've got an idea for an event you'd like to host, anyone in the club can host ! Just get in touch with any board member & we'll help you through the process. Thanks, Anneka

MOMS Club Wants You !

Are you interested in volunteering on the MOMS Club of Eugene board starting in July ? Service on the board is from July to June so we will be having elections in May for next year's positions. Check out the descriptions on our leadership page and see where you can fit in to serve our wonderful club ! Several board members will continue on next year, including Anneka as President. Anneka will give more information on the positions being vacated at our March member meeting ... so stay tuned to see how you can get involved !

Coffee Times Defined

MOMS Club of Eugene now has two weekly opportunities for our moms to get their caffeine and socialization fixes in a single (or double) shot! All members (with their children) are welcome to come to Coffee Monday, which is meeting at Full City Cafe during February and March (at the corner of 13th and High). Show up around 9:30. The other group, Mocha Mommies, is for moms with kids born in 2009 or earlier. We want our moms with pre-school/grade school-aged kids to be able to connect on a regular basis, so if that means you, come on over to Sweet Life Patisserie on Thursdays at 9:30. This group will meet every Thursday of the month, except on the second Thursday, when we have a

Playgroup Corner
Playgroups are a great way to connect with Moms of kids with similar ages. Babies 2009 & older Mocha Mommies weekly meet up at a coffee shop is for you! Interested in starting a playgroup? Contact Nicole Flores. Babies 2010 Playgroup meets on Wednesdays, from 10am to Noon. Members take turns hosting. Contact Shireen Wright, and she'll add you to our facebook group so you can get the skinny on locations.

Recipe of the Month : Baked Lemony Chicken

from blog.barre3.com 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1/4 c olive oil 1 lemon, cut in 1/2 1 garlic clove, minced 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper extra salt and pepper, to taste PREPARATION: 1. Preheat oven to 350 2. Remove chicken from package, rinse, and pat dry. Set aside. 3. Place olive oil, juice of half of the lemon, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a large bowl and whisk together. Roll each chicken breast in the olive oil mixture and place side by side in a 9 x 13 glass cooking dish. 4. Slice the second half of the lemon into half moons and tuck them around the chicken breasts in the pan. Pour remaining olive oil mixture evenly over chicken and sprinkle with a pinch of extra salt and pepper. 5. Place in oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken breasts. After 20 minutes, remove from oven and baste juices of the top of the chicken. Return to oven and bake an additional 10-20 minutes as needed. Remove from oven again and let sit for 5 minutes to seal in the juices. Serve warm.
