Grove Village
This tour will be run by Your Housing Group and will focus on the impressive journey of the award-winning regeneration scheme, Grove Village, in central Manchester, as we celebrate our first ten years as a HRA Private Finance Initiative. The regeneration of Grove Village has been a catalyst for regeneration in the wider area of Ardwick and it was the first government backed housing PFI project to reach contractual close in the country, in March 2003. Grove Village is an imaginative regeneration project in the heart of the city, transforming an area of Ardwick into a modern, mixed tenure urban village, in which local residents have a renewed sense of pride to live. On this tour you will: Commence with a presentation and discussion at the Ida Kinsey Village Centre in Grove Village, which is the hub of the local community. The centre is run solely by residents for services and classes for residents and is in use seven days a week Join us as we share with you our successes of the transformation of Grove Village from a no demand, poorly designed 1970s local authority neighbourhood to a thriving community Learn about our approach to physical regeneration, neighbourhood management, community empowerment and activism, and our offer to residents on worklessness and resident engagement Visit the neighbourhood and see the physical regeneration that has taken place. Residents will also be on hand to share with delegates their experiences of Your Housing Groups approach to regeneration
