Castle band directors are pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs.

Sharon Ryles as the Castle Color Guard Director. Mrs. Ryles love for the activity began in 1988 as a member of the Marlington High School Marching Dukes in Ohio. She began working as a freelance choreographer, designer and clinician in 1994 and has worked with several successful color guard programs (from middle school to World Class levels) throughout Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Kansas, Florida and California. She has most recently served as the Assistant Band Director and Color guard Caption Head (2005, 2006-2008) at Concord HS, in North Carolina. Prior to her tenure at Concord, Sharon spent 6 years as the director of the Thomas Worthington High School Fall and Winter Color Guards and 2 years as a Program Designer and Color Guard Caption Head at Collierville High School in Collierville, Tennessee. Additionally, she served as the Color Guard Caption Head for the 2003 charter season of the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition to teaching, designing and consulting, Sharon serves as a Visual and Color Guard Adjudicator for several circuits and organizations throughout the United States including the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA), the North Carolina Bandmasters, the Carolina Indoor Performance Association (CIPA), the Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA), the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA), the Gulf Coast Judges Association (GCJA) and the South Carolina Music Educators Association. She also spent time as a choreographer for Marching Show Concepts in Ft. Wayne, IN and Creative Solutions in Idaho. Sharon earned a B.S. in Communications/English Education and Theater from Bowling Green State University (OH) in 1996 and currently teaches seventh grade language Arts in Concord, North Carolina. We are very excited to welcome her to our band family!
