Moenike

Sims has set growth and extension in the arts and education programs as a Fine Arts Educator. She has received a Bachelors of Science degree in Dance and Arts Management. With 16 years of dance and teaching experience, Moenike has taught in various studios, schools, churches, community centers and dance companies. She is the founder of Oklahoma City Universitys Rhythms Dance Team, Edison Preparatory Schools Edison Dance Company, Urban Elite summer program and co-founder of Greenwood Christian Center School of the Arts. Moenike has also stage managed for out-of-state plays at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. As former Miss Black Tulsa of 2002 and Miss Black Oklahoma of 2002, she promoted Academic Achievement Through The Arts. Moenike has judged city and statewide pageants in Oklahoma. Moenike has received awards from the Mayor of Tulsa and the governor of Oklahoma. From speaking in schools, presenting grant proposals, developing fundraising events, gathering sponsorships for projects and participating in diverse events, Moenike Sims remains active in her community. Moenike has spoken at the state capital of Oklahoma where she shared the importance of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. She was a special guest at the NAACP convention in 2002 and former spokeswoman for the Clara Luper Scholarship Foundation. Moenike Sims continues to mentor young girls and teens. In efforts to develop her craft, Moenike moved to New York in 2007 and became a choreographer for the Off Center dance company. Moenike has featured in commercials such as Shoe Carnival, Teen Quiz, Simple Simmons Pizza, Tulsa Chambers of Commerce, etc. She has choreographed presentations for the mayor of New York City, west point officials and the United States Army General; General Petraeus. As an inspirational speaker, Moenike educates churches on how to grow an effective dance ministries and leaders how to start dance programs.. Returning from New York, Moenike has chosen to pour back into the youth of Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a teacher of Edison Preparatory School, Moenike has cultivated a dance curriculum and has founded Edison Dance Company. Moenike continues to teach, perform and choreograph for various cities throughout the United States and overseas.
