Staples and a Magnet

Aim: to see how many staples can be connected through a magnet by being straightened, used or bent. Prediction: I predict that using used staples, you can connect more because of the shape of the paperclip, and there would be more magnetism on both ends of the clip Materials: - Staples - Any sized Magnet Method: 1. 2. 3. 4. Results: Type of Staples Used Straight Straight+Bent Used+Bents Number of Staples 8 5 6 8

Bend or straighten the staples Carefully connect the staples one by one Keep count of how many staples have been connected together When a staple cant connect any more, record the data.

6 5

0 USED STRAIGHT STRAIGHT+BENT USED+BENT Number of Staples

Discussion: I think the results were different because of the shape of paperclips. I think bent and used paperclips were higher than all the other staples was because of the loop shape at each end so which means there would be more magnetism on each end.

Conclusion: I think the experiment could have been a lot better since the experiment before didnt really work. I think the only thing I could think that could have change the experiment is using different magnets to see if the results varied.
