Teachers Notes

Brainstorm activity 1 Ask students to brainstorm sports that use a ball. Try to elicit the words in the box below. Students may contribute some additional sports.

football basketball

tennis volleyball

golf baseball

cricket handball

American football table tennis

Game 2 Mime one of the sports from activity 1. The student who correctly guesses the sport can come to the front of the classroom and mime another.

Vocabulary 2 Elicit or teach the following vocabulary through mime. Make sure the students write down the words in their notebooks.

bounce a ball hit a ball

throw a ball run with a ball

catch a ball touch a ball

kick a ball drop a ball

Game 4 Mime one of the actions. The student who correctly guesses the sport can come to the front of the classroom and mime another.

Put the students into groups of three to five, to continue the miming activity.
