On August 2, 2013, the Thomasville Police Department was awarded a $5,000.00 grant from the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators for outstanding work in the investigation of pharmaceutical diversion. The Special Operations Unit of the Thomasville Police Department was one of 54 agencies to receive funding. The grant was made possible through funding by Purdue Pharma pharmaceuticals in Stamford, CT. The grants purpose is to help address prescription drug diversion and to put resources in the hands of law enforcement to help combat prescription drug abuse and diversion. The grant monies will be used to provide services that increase the enforcement and education of the prescription drug abuse problem in Thomasville.
