300 block of E. Guilford Street, Thomasville, NC

On Monday, February 23, 2015, at 2:11 p.m., Thomasville officers responded to the 300 block
of E. Guilford Street in reference to a domestic assault. Officers arrived and found a 31-year-old
female victim in front of the residence.
The victim told police her ex-boyfriend, Phillip Scott Barnette, 31, of Carolina Avenue, High
Point, came to her residence and kicked in the door. The victim told police she was assaulted
inside her residence and then he forced her into his vehicle. The victim was able to escape and
ran back into her residence where she called 911. The victim was treated for minor injuries by
Davidson County Emergency Services at the scene.
Barnette fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet Malibu or Impala with a Texas license plate. The
vehicle is believed to be a rental. Officers have charged Barnette with breaking and entering,
first degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation, assault on a female, and hit and run.
