9-B Hinkle Street, Thomasville, NC 27360

A Thomasville man has been charged in connection with a stabbing after the victim was found
on the side of the road.
Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriffs Office responded to Hinkle Street and Field Street
after a citizen called 911 after seeing the victim on the side of the road. At the time of this
incident, Thomasville officers were still on the scene of the standoff on Martin Luther King
Drive. Deputies were assisting by answering calls for service.
Thomasville officers arrived shortly thereafter and assumed the scene. It was determined an
altercation took place between the victim and the suspect in a building behind the residence of
9-B Hinkle Street where alcohol was involved. The victim left after being stabbed and
eventually collapsed near the intersection of Hinkle and Field Street where he was found.
Detectives responded and processed the scene and interviewed witnesses.
Thomasville detectives have charged Hugh Presley Neeley, 58, of 9-B Hinkle Street, with
assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and altering and
destroying criminal evidence. Neeley received a $100,000 secured bond and was placed in the
Davidson County Jail. His court date has been set for 01/28/2015 in Thomasville
The victim, Terry Schwander, 45, of 11 Pine Street, Thomasville, received multiple stab
wounds and was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Schwander underwent
surgery and was listed in stable condition.
