Homicide in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast

(Washington, DC) Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Departments Homicide Branch are
investigating the homicide that occurred in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast.
On Saturday, July 5, 2015, at approximately 5:29 am, officers from the Seventh District responded to
a call to investigate the trouble in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast. Upon arrival, they
located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical
Services personnel responded and did not find any signs consistent with life. Members from the
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner transported the victim to their facility.
The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old John Jones of Southeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that
provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for
any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is
