Skanska chooses CONJECT to support BIM in the project Malta House

Project Development

About Skanska Skanska Property Poland is a commercial developer and part of the Swedish Skanska Group with 60,000 employees worldwide. Skanska has been active in the Polish market for more than 20 years. Their successful track record of developing green office projects in Warsaw, Wrocaw, Katowice and TriCity has made Skanska the countrys second biggest construction company. About the Project Malta House is a class A green office complex which is being developed in compliance with the principles of

sustainable development. It will be the first LEED precertified office building in Pozna with the highest Platinum rating. The total leasable space of Malta House will amount to 14 700 m2. 275 parking spaces will be available for tenants. A green roof with a view over Malta Lake and a garden in the patio will be additional assets of the project. Construction period: January 2012 third quarter 2013 (scheduled) Total invest: 29 Million Euros

Challenge Malta House was the first project where Skanska began to use BIM on a broad scale. Unlike before, where only 2D drawings had to be exchanged in a step-by-step approach, now it was necessary to exchange complete BIM models securely as file sizes were much larger than the 2D CAD files. A fast and reliable project collaboration solution was needed to support those processes. One of the biggest problems that occurs in construction projects is that people often work with out-of-date BIM models. BIM models are continuously updated, and

therefore everyone involved in the project needs to have access to the new model on time. Revised or new BIM models often fail to reach the project participants or reach them too late. Approvals need to be organised and issued on time. If the administrative work becomes overpowering it delays the updating process and quality of the documentation. With pm. we can exchange our large BIM files securely, reliably and traceable. Thanks to the automatic versioning of our BIM files in pm. all project participants can easily and anytime trace what changes and decisions were made in which phase of planning we always talk about the same revision of a model file.
Roland Jarosz, Project Leader, Skanska Property Poland

Solution CONJECT was chosen for a secure and reliable exchange of BIM files. All BIM models can be accessed centrally by all project participants. Each step within the approval process of a BIM model can be traced as all messages are bundled together within an activity. Roland Jarosz particularly likes CONJECT for the intuitive User Interface and the simple and fast search functionality. This increases user acceptance, which is an essential element for the success of the whole project. Because CONJECT makes it absolutely clear which drawing is the current version and who made it available and when, fewer errors occur in planning and execution. As the list of delivered BIM models is kept automatically, it is always up-to-date and complete.

With CONJECT, BIM models will not get stuck in spam filters during distribution and delivery will not fail because an e-mail mailbox is too small. The relevant project participants will be reliably informed about changes by e-mail even if they are not logged on to CONJECT. The multi-layer safety model assures high availability of all data. BIM model submission dates can be complied with because access to the data is ensured at all times.

CONJECT is an international software company, headquartered in Germany. CONJECT provides applications to support and manage key processes throughout the plan-build-operate life-cycle.
