Bar magnet digunakan untuk memisahkan serbuk besi daripada sulfur dengan kaedah fizikal. 3. a) A bit of mixture and the compound is filled into two different test tubes. Sedikit campuran dan sebatian dimasukkan ke dalam dua tabung uji yang berlainan. b) A small volume of carbon disulfide is added into both test tubes. Sedikit larutan karbon disulfide ditambahkan ke dalam kedua-dua tabung uji. c) Test tubes was covered with cork and being shaken slowly Tabung uji ditutup dengan gabus dan digoncang perlahan-lahan. d) Observations are recorded. Pemerhatian direkodkan. 4. a) 3 cm3 of dilute sulphuric acid is added to the mixture in the test tube. The gas given off is tested with burning wooden splinter. 3 cm3 asid hidroklorik ditambah ke dalam tabung uji yang mengandungi campuran. gas yang terhasil diuji menggunakan kayu uji menyala. b) 3 cm3 of dilute sulphuric acid is added to the compound in the test tube. The smell of gas given off is recorded. 3 cm3 asid hidroklorik ditambah ke dalam tabung uji yang mengandungi sebatian. Bau gas yang terhasil dikesan dan direkodkan.

B. Second part / Bahagian 2 Procedure Prosedur a)The remaining iron and sulphur mixture is heated strongly in crucible. Heating process was stopped when the mixture starts to glow. Lebihan campuran serbuk besi dan serbuk sulfur dimasukkan ke dalam mangkuk pijar dan dipanaskan. Proses pemanasan diberhentikan apabila campuran mula menyala. b) Compound was transferred from crucible to petri dish after cooled. Sebatian dipindahkan ke dalam piring petri setelah disejukkan. c) Magnet bar was brought close to the substance. Bar magnet didekatkan kepada sebatian. d)A small volume of carbon disulfide is added into test tubes contain the compound.
