Directions: Using information learned in class and resources found on the website for this class, you will develop a Web 2.0 Activity for your students and a plan to roll out the use of Web 2.0 in your classroom. Fill in the form below and indicate what technologies you plan to use, why you plan to use them, and what you will need to do in order to be able to use those technologies. #1 : Choose a technology Choose a technology where you will post your activity for students to complete: KidBlog.org

You will need to learn about the technology you chose: safety features, sharing; student account creation; how to embed and link multimedia; how to enter, save and publish information.

How will the following laws affect your use of Web 2.0 in the classroom with your students? CIPA Students will be taught and continually monitored/reinforced for proper online decorum with each other; school filters monitor content on YouTube site. COPPA My students are over 13. However, we will be using KidBlog and I will be creating accounts to ensure anonymity/security of information provided. DASA Continual reinforcement of proper etiquette and behavior, along with consequences for violating requirements, will ensure students treat each other with dignity and respect. Copyright Students are required to share links to their source materials, and refer directly to the source/author when making their summaries and arguments. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ #4: Lesson Plan: Step 1: What will the students know and be able to do at the end of this lesson? Students will: - be able to access kidblogs -personalize their own profiles and blogs - research appropriate sites for literary current events - find and include links to appropriate sources - write blog entries that include appropriate summaries and reflections on sources, and create topics for discussion - comment on other students' blogs in an appropriate and significant manner.

Step 2: How will you assess the students to know if they achieved desired outcomes? Will you use a rubric, give participation points? There is a rubric. The rubric mainly assess that basic requirements of the assignment are met, as I want it to be as basic as possible to encourage discussion and engagement.

Step 3: What instructional activities and technology resources will you use to scaffold learning? Include an intro lesson to introduce students to the tool, your code of conduct, and how they will use the tool. I will introduce them to KidBlogs and their accounts We will practice blogging via the Introductory "How and Why We Read" activity

Then, I will introduce them to the Literary Current Event assignment. We will examine my sample entry and discuss how it meets the requirements of the assignment. Next, we will examine my sample comment, and discuss its merits. Students will then make a comment of their own on my sample entry, and we will examine and discuss them as a group. Finally, students will be able to begin their own blog entries.
