    Vertical Rough Alignment


    The following procedure can be used as part of the pre-alignment checks. It makes the vertical rough alignment easier. A straightedge can then be used for the horizontal rough alignment. Procedure: 1. Measure the gap at the top of the coupling with a caliper.

    Measure the gap at the bottom of the coupling with a caliper.

    3. Calculate the foot correction by plugging in the values into the formula:

    If the gap is wider at the top you will add shims to the back feet or remove shims from the front of the machine.

    5. If the gap is wider at the bottom you will add shims to the front or remove shims from the back.
