MSU Iligan Institute of Technology College of Education DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS First Semester, AY 2009 2010 I. Course No. and Title: Ed 105A Educational Technology 1 II. Course Description: This course introduces the student to educational technology, terminology, the various educational media, theories that justify the use of these media, and the principles in the development and utilization of these media. It will also train him in the proper operation and use of different hardware like the overhead projector, slide projector, VHS player/recorder, VCD/DVD player/recorder, television, and computer. The application of information and communications technology in education will be experienced with the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and multimedia as productivity tools. 3 units 2 hrs. lec., 3 hrs. lab 5 hrs / week 90 hrs / semester Comp. Sci. 1 (Computer Science 1) and Ed 102N (Human Growth, Development, and Learning) Ed 107 (Principles and Methods of Teaching)
III. General Objectives: At the end of the semester, the students are expected to: 1. Apply the theories, principles, and techniques in the selection, design, production, and utilization of instructional media. 2. Recognize the values of integrating instructional media in the curriculum and of using such media in instruction with utmost care and economy. 3. Use the different audiovisual equipment properly in classroom instruction.
