Artwork: Barnali Saha

This sketchwork is an admirer’s homage inspired by the famed

Nayika by Jamini Roy (1887-1972), who is among the most
significant and influential Indian artists of the 20th century.
Trained in the Western and European techniques, Roy rejected
the conventions to cultivate a personal style inspired largely by
traditional Indian folk and village arts, especially those of his
native Bengal.

This sketchwork is an admirer’s homage inspired by the famed creation, “Drawing hands”, by Maurits Cornelis
