5: FORMULAS
Objectives: Find the value of the variable in a formula given replacements for the other variables. Solve a formula for one of its variables. Find the supplement and complement of an angle. Solve simple percent problems.
Definition
In mathematics, formula is an equation that contains more than one variable.
Perimeter of a Rectangle
Example: Problem Set 2.5 1.) Use the formula P = 2L + 2W to find the length of a rectangular lot if the width is 50 feet and the perimeter P is 300 feet.
P = 2L + 2W P 2W = 2L 2 2
