It is stereotyped as a dark, sometimes morbid, eroticized fashion and style of dress.

Some characteristic of this fashion are dark colored clothing: blacks, dark reds, blues, and purples.

Many often wear clothing made from leather, or in newer times PVC, or pieces of fetish attire, such as corsets and bodices.

Gothic style in modern trend

Popular culture is what defines the current trends and up to date clothing styles that are in. Conforming to these trends is what is considered fashionable and modern.

Clothing and fashion is important because it is a form of nonverbal communication that helps indicate occupation, rank, gender, sexual availability, locality, class, wealth and group affiliation.

ORIGIN OF THE TERM

The word grunge is believed to be a back formation from the US slang adjective grungy, which originated in about 1965 as a slang term for "dirty" or "filthy".

One of the most important events in 1990s fashion was the rise of Grunge fashion in 1992.

Grunge fashion was influenced by grunge music.

It achieved mainstream popularity in 1992.

Due to the mainstream success of Nirvana and their hit single Smell like Teen spirit.

Grunge Fashion generally consists of loose fitting baggy clothing, which is usually ripped to give the effect of old, tatty clothing.

The grunge style resulted in a decline in bright colours. It was dominated by plaid flannel shirts, stonewashed blue jeans, and dark colours like maroon, forest green, indigo, and brown.

White and black were also popular.

Grunge did not fail and is not dead

It is often asserted that the grung subculture died in the mid nineties
This, however is a vast misconception made by the mtv viewing public of America They believe if they no longer support a trend it has ceased to exist.

Heavy metal (often referred to simply as metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Heavy metal is the most extreme in terms of volume, machismo, and theatricality. Heavy metal has long had a worldwide following of fans known as "metal heads" or "head bangers".

Loud distorted guitars and dense bass and drum Electric guitar is the key element Loudness is the main characteristic of this music

Although early heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple attracted large audiences, they were often critically hated at the time, a status common throughout the history of the genre.

The clothing associated with heavy metal has its roots in the biker and rocker subcultures.

Judas Priest The band that has received the most credit for revolutionizing the look was Judas Priest, primarily with its singer, Rob Halford. He incorporated a biker look to his stage persona as early as 1978.

Modern metal fashion is an amalgamation of punk, Goth, military fashion and even various historical fashions.

The band shirt is a common article of clothing in heavy metal culture. These come in two varieties: the normal T-shirt, and the long sleeve Tshirt, which will often feature designs down the arms as well as on the back and front. These shirts display on their front the name of a band, often accompanied by the band's logo or an album cover, and the back some tour list, lyrics, slogan, or another image. This is standard uniform for fans of the band emblazoned on the shirt.

Patches are small shaped pieces of fabric that carry a design: normally, at least in terms of metal fashion, a band logo or album cover. They are normally displayed on Kutten. The traditional "patch jacket" is a black jacket, usually long sleeves, though denim jackets (More common in the UK and with traditional metal fashion) are also used, often with the sleeves cut off.

Band names are also sometimes displayed in the form of badges, which are displayed in much the same way as patches, although obviously the range of locations in which they can be placed is greater.

The most commonly worn types of jackets that metalheads wear are black leather jackets, blue/black denim jackets, trenchcoats and army combat jackets like field jackets
