Portfolio Entry no. 9.: Individual Reflection of the teaching aids with labels As a future educator, it is essential for me to know and have familiarize the use of instructional materials when discussing my lesson. I believe that instructional materials are very important in teaching. They serve as a guide and helper for us teachers. I believe that without instructional materials a teacher lacks the ability to teach her lesson to her students. A teacher is not a teacher without instructional materials. I remember that one of the signature of a teacher is when she is carrying large and heavy bags all equipped with instructional materials. IMs ranges from the ordinary Manila paper to decorative mock-ups and charts. Also today, were it is now called Technology Age, there are available IMs in the computer, such as interactive games and activities to Powerpoint presentations. In line with this, as Special Education student, we also have our very own instructional materials that will cater the different needs of our students. In SPED we need to make instructional materials that will help our students to learn, mostly about colors, shapes, letters, and good moral value. As much as possible we make it sure that our IMs are colorful, decorative and easy to operate so that our students will learn better. The activity that we had able us to make a lesson plan good for 1 meeting and then by this we made different IMs. The activity is very helpful to me because I get to exercise my creativity skills in making the IMs. I believe that this activity is with great help for me and my future profession. I greatly anticipate to have more time to make IMs so that I can plan properly the needed IMs for my students. All in all this activity is a great learning experience for me, not only did I learn new lessons and be able to reflect but also it developed my cooperation and collaboration skills with my groupmates.
