Chocolate Chip Cookies

c. softened shortening 6 Tbsp. brown sugar 6 Tbsp. granulated sugar tsp. vanilla 1 egg, beaten

1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour tsp. baking soda tsp. salt c. chocolate chips c. chopped walnuts, optional

Cream together shortening and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. In a small bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to egg mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet making the cookies uniform in size. 5. Bake at 375F for 10 12 minutes. 6. When done, remove from cookie sheet onto wire racks or paper towels to cool.

Toll House Cookies


CREAM c. shortening 6 Tbsp. brown sugar 6 Tbsp. granulated sugar

ADD

1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tsp. vanilla

COMBINE WITH CREAMED MIXTURE

1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour tsp. salt tsp. baking soda

ADD IN

1 c. chocolate chips c. chopped walnuts, optional

DROP

by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet Keep cookies same size and shape.

BAKE

10 -12 minutes at 375 F. Yield: 24 cookies
