Stage IV generator produces 210 MW by Unit VI. Stage V generator produces 250 MW by Unit VII and 250 MV by Unit VIII.

Functional Description

Functional layout of National Thermal Power Plant

Major Inputs to power stations

Water From the nearby Yamuna Canal. Lifted by raw water pump, further to clarifier to remove turbidity of water. Fuel Oil Two types of fuel oil used : I) Low sulphur high stock oil (LSHS) II) High speed diesel oil (HSD) Coal The main fuel used to produced electricity in the Panipat Thermal Power Plant is coal. It reaches the plant by the railways wagons. Then it is crushed and send further for the further process.

Electricity From Coal

These steps are use to convert coal to electricity: 1.Coal to Steam 2.Steam to mechanical power 3.Switching to transmission The further processes in Panipat Thermal Power Plant used are: Coal to Steam Steam to Mechanical Power Switching & Transmission The electricity usually produced is 25000 volts which is connected to stepup transformer which converts it into 132000 volts, 220000 volts, 400000 volts.

GENERAL WORKING DIAGRAM

6.6 kV Supply Systems

1.A circuit breaker is a device which:
Makes or Breaks a circuit either manually or by remote control under normal conditions. Breaks a circuit automatically under fault conditions. 2.On the basis of medium used for a extinction the circuit breaker are classified as :

Oil circuit breakers

Air blast circuit breaker Sulpher hexafluoride circuit breaker.

MOTOR
HIGH TENSION MOTOR

High tension motors operated at high voltages. In Tau

Devi Lal thermal power station, these motors are

operated at 6.6kv. LOW TENSION MOTOR

Low tension motors are those which are of 415v. They

are mainly used in H.T.motor auxiliary.

TRANSFORMER
The transformer is the most convenient & economical device for transfer of power from one voltage to another voltage at the same frequency.
Transformer are of two types:1.Step-up transformer - Which step-up the voltage at secondary side called step-up transformer. 2.Step-down transformer- Which step-down the voltage at secondary side are called step-down transformer.
