Dont let your learner be left in the 20th century! Technology supports are as close as your local dollar store or free on the internet. During this dynamic, hands-on workshop, we will explore materials as simple as special pencils and as complex as touch screen computers. Topics to be covered: Low and high tech supports for reading and writing, Tweaking home learning environments to scaffold success, Free websites to help with study skills and organization, Technology based strategies to improve independence with homework completion, and Utilizing iPad apps for basic academic skills practice. Lorianne Hoenninger, MS, ATP, Director of Accessible Learning Technology Alternatives, has been involved in the field of education for 30 years, as an educator of children with special needs, as an adjunct professor and as a technology specialist. Dually certified in both elementary and special education, she is one of a select group of practitioners across the country to earn certification as an Assistive Technology Practitioner. Ms. Hoenninger has presented at numerous conferences locally and nationally, has appeared on WLIW/Channel 21 TVs Public Affairs programs, writes for a variety of trade publications, was president of the New York State Technology and Media Division of the Council of Exceptional Children and teacher liaison for the AHANY board of directors. We encourage everyone to come. There will be a question and answer session at the conclusion. This is a great opportunity to meet and share your thoughts and ideas with other parents and teachers. Light refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded! If you have any questions about this or any other SEPTA event, please look us up on the district website or school calendar.
