Stormwater Coalition Exposition on How to Go Green in Albany County


Youve heard of rooftop gardens but ever hear of a green roof on a college building? When you think of blacktop does that make you think green? On September 24th, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy is inviting you to see a green roof like they have in Chicago, Portland and Philadelphia right here on the UAlbany campus. Albany County is a member and host of the Stormwater Coalition. Youll be able to see porous asphalt in Colonie do its work to help the environment as the pavement is sprayed with water. Its all part of the Stormwater Coalition of Albany Countys bus tour to highlight green infrastructure practices right here in Albany County. And thats not all. You can see a rain garden in the Village of Colonie and stream restoration right at the City of Albany landfill. Sounds amazing right? Great visuals, terrific photo opportunities but limited space. Press will be given priority for seating. The tour includes lunch, and begins and ends at Cook Park, Colonie. Call Nancy Heinzen to register to get on the bus 447-5645. The tour starts at noon.
