Osteomeatal Complex In the middle meatal, there are orifices from maxillary sinus, frontal sinus, and anterior

ethmoidal sinus. This is a complicated and narrow area, named osteomeatal complex. This complex is consist of ethmoidal infundible (located behind uncinate processus), frontalis recess, ethmoidal bullae, and anterior ethmoidal cellulae with their ostia and maxillary sinus ostium. The clinical importance of this area is correlated with pressure in the osteomaeatal complex. For example, in the condition where the mucous layer is being edematous. It will make the cavities in osteomeatal complex become narrower. As the result, the adequate ventilation from paranasal sinuses will be blocked. This condition may become the beginning of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses that come from rhinogenic factor. Referensi nunul: 1. Junquiera LC, Carneiro J. 2005.
